My First Mandala

My first mandala. Colored pencil and ink on 9″ x 12″ sketch paper inspired by watching the artist Danilo Oliveira creating work on Instagram. With a little help from a cup to create the perfectly round center, I played with the shape of the leaves and arches to design my very first mandala.

I quickly learned that in order for me to achieve the symmetrical look I was truly going for I would need a compass. Check out the next few posts to see what I’ve come up with next.
